About the Place
Our Place Restaurant, nestled at 827 E Market St in Washington Court House, Ohio, is a humble, family-owned diner that carries the charm and simplicity of a classic small-town eatery. Walking through its doors, you feel an immediate sense of belonging—the kind of place where locals are regulars and newcomers are welcomed warmly, no matter if it’s their first or tenth visit.
The heart of Our Place lies in its straightforward, comforting dishes that recall the flavors and portions of mid-20th-century American diners. Broasted chicken stands out as a signature highlight—crispy, flavorful, and generously portioned. Several customers have praised it for its satisfying taste and size, although some have noted occasional inconsistencies in moisture and preparation. The sides are exactly what one would expect from a classic Woolworth-style lunch counter: classic, hearty, and filling.
What truly sets Our Place apart, however, is the balance between quality, price, and service. The affordability reflects the unpretentious menu, yet the food delivers genuine comfort and nostalgia. Service here earns high marks, with staff like KC making guests feel valued and at home. This warmth fills the gap when the food occasionally errs on the side of being reheated or slightly dry. It’s less about gourmet innovation and more about honest food served with genuine hospitality.
For those seeking an authentic taste of American diner fare in a cozy, welcoming setting, Our Place Restaurant offers a reliable, satisfying experience. It’s a meal that reminds you of simpler times—where good conversation and honest cooking take center stage. Despite minor flaws, it’s a place worth visiting for a hearty breakfast or a comforting lunch with friends and family.
“ Pleasant humble small town diner that provided an exceptional breakfast for our sizable group during a visit to local friends. Food quality is restrained but prices reflect that and still delicious. ”
“ May 2022 Edit, sadly, the past two times we have tried chicken there it was really dry, and the breast was oddly cut down the center, and tough. We will order something else next time. Our Place is family owned, and the chicken is amazing! Youre looking at typical old fashioned diner type food. The sides are the same as you would've gotten in the 70s from a Woolworth lunch counter. It's worth the trip if you love chicken, ribs or a good steak. Grab a jar of cinnamon hard tack candy...grandma really did make it. Cost of four pieces of broasted chicken and three sides....$8.95. ”
“ The simple and straightforward name of this place reflects how locals claim this place as their own. You’re treated as a regular, whether it’s your first or tenth time, and people want to come back. It’s been around for a while, and I stumbled upon it with a friend while in the area. We decided to eat here and were not disappointed. I got the delicious broasted chicken which was a plentiful and home style meal, with down to earth service that was as good as the food. If you leave ‘Our Place’ hungry, it’s “your fault”. ”
“ If rating based on the food alone, it would be 4 stars. The fried chicken we got was unusually dark in color, and tasted like it had been made earlier in the morning and then simply warmed up when served. However, what makes up for the rating is the exceptional service. Our server, KC, was bubbly, friendly, and super accommodating. We were treated like locals even though it was pretty clear we were new to the place. She never made us feel out of place and really contributed to the small-town, mom-and-pop shop vibe we were looking for. Although we found the taste average, the portions are huge. The country style dinners come with 3 sides and a piece of bread, for only $9 ($8.50 if you’re 55 and above). ”
“ Broasted chicken is amazing, and came with 4 pieces, one being a wing that was kind of small. Side portions are American sized and reasonably priced. Service is friendly. My only bad experience here is the parking lot is too small for how many seats it looks like they have. ”
